how the timing marks on valve pulleys line up with crank on 1997 Dodge Intrepid?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

The details for timing belt Alignment with diagrams is as follows:----
Here is a few diagrams of the timing marks. Be sure that you check the marks after the tensioner has been installed as well because installing the tensioner tends to slightly re-adjust the positions of the cams as it takes up slack on one side.
Be carful when turning the engine (by hand) because these engines are an interferance engine and the valves can contact the pistons. After everything is installed and tight, rotate the engine by hand twice and then recheck that the marks are good to go.
If you haven't replaced the water pump, I highly recommend you do it now.

This will help you to Align the timing marks.
Thanks.

Saturn Car Blower motor Only works on High?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

Very common problem, noticed on many car models.

Sounds like your blower motor resistor is bad. The resistor allows different speeds of the fan other that full 12 volts (which is the high speed). The resistor is located on the passenger side on the heating housing assembly behind the glove box (kind of). It somewhat difficult to get to.

The blower motor resistor provides different settings for your blower motor by biasing. You can replace it.
Here are the steps -
  • Remove the dash pad.Take the 2 (7mm) screws out of the top of the dash pad that is front and center. Some models Saturn's have them screws on the passenger side. There will be a little cover you need to pry up with a tiny flat head screwdriver first to access the screws.

  1. Now, starting from one corner, your going to pry up on the upper dash pad. A big screwdriver or panel remover. Panel removers work best in my opinion but a screwdriver will work.
  2. Now the dash pad should be up and lose.Pull the dash pad right on forward/up and out.
  3. Now remove that foam pad. it comes out nice and easy.
  • Now to remove the defrost duct.Remove the (2) 7mm bolts off that long black plastic bracket.
  1. Now there are two clips at the base of the duct. You only need to release one and then you can pull up on the duct and with some wiggling it will pull up and out.
  2. Now look strait back in there (under the metal frame a nit on top) you will see a stand alone connector. That is your blower motor resistor.
  3. You need a 5.5mm socket in 1/4" drive for the two screws.
  4. Remove those headed screws.
  5. Now you can lift that resistor right on out.Disconnect the connector. There is a little tab to lift up on.
  6. Now the old one is out and a new one can be put in.
  7. Now reverse these procedures to finish job.
  8. This details will help you.Thanks.

OBDII scan is receiving NO BUS CODE?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

This is received many a times while scanning error codes from cars ECM.
Most of the time a no bus comunication problem is due to a short to ground or a short to power on the bus wiring. The bus wiring is a pair of wires that connect all of the modules in the vehicle togather so they can all comunicate, kind of like a telephone wire set that allows calls from one module to the next. If you short it, then the electrical signal can't get to the destination module (no bus).
The voltage should be about 2.5 volts. The voltage is usually created by one or more of the modules, so if one module fails but doesn't short to power or ground the other modules can still communicate with the scanner and tell the tech where the problems lies.
If it is 0 it is shorted to ground (this means the wire has shaffed and touched bare (ground) metal somewhere, or a module has malfunctioned internally and grounded the curcuit), if it has 12 volts, then it is shorted to power and this is usually a bad module.
The best way to test is to actually unplug modules one at a time untill the bus comes to life again. Then you know which module it is. If it not a module then it is a bigger diag job.
Just as a side note, most of the time we run into this type of problem it is usually the radio or the heater control head. To test these simply unplug them one at a time and see if the scanner now reads the bus.
This basic details will help.
Thanks.

ABS & Brake lights warning indicator steady on dash and speedometer not working for Dodge Ram?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

This problem is very rate, but yes noticed in some dodge ram and dodge trucks.
The rear differential speed sensor is also the rear ABS sensor. Since the speedometer also needs to know the vehicle speed it seems like this the most likely source of the problem you are describing.
The vehicles rear speed sensor can be read by a scan tool to see if the signal is there or not. It wont be a code, just whether it is sinding the correct signal. Most shops or your dealer should be able to perform this test in about 10 - 15 minutes. The sensor is located on the top of the rear differential in the center of the pumpkin.
If sensor checked out faulty, then replacing the sensor will help.
Thanks.

Car runs hot in Traffic?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

This problem is very much noticed in many car models. The car engine gets hot, while driving in traffic or if car stops in traffic for long hours.
Sounds like perhaps the electric fans are not working. The fan(s) run only when the tempurature reaches a certain point. When you are sitting at a traffic light, you are not moving through the air and therfore you have no air moving through the radiator to cool the hot fluid inside the radiator. This is a situation where the electric fan would start up in order to cool the engine when there is no air movement otherwise.
Causes: No power --- check the fuse for the radiator fan and replace if blown. If it blows again then something more is wrong that needs to be diagnosed.
Temp sensor is no longer functioning --- Check the temp sensor for connectivity when hot (on some cars you can simply jump the switch and see if the fans run)
Fan(s) are bad --- Apply 12 volts to the fan power lead and see if they run. If they do then something else is blocking or not transfering the normal power to the fans, like a relay or control module. ( more diagnostics needed here)
It depends on how mechanically inclined you are. If you feel comfortable doing these kinds of tests then go for it. If not, perhaps a nice "good reputation" shop might be your best choice.
getting this possibilities checked/inspected will help you.
Thanks.

Diagnostic Code P1396?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

CODE P1396 GLOW PLUG MONITOR FAULT BANK NUMBER 2.
This code is only for californial emmissions trucks, which are the only ones with glow plug modules.
DTC P1395 or P1396 will set on the bank that is reading less than 39 amps. Loose fitting pins in the circuit connectors causing high resistance or high-resistance glow plug(s) on that bank could be the cause. A shorted circuit or low-resistance glow plug(s) on the opposite bank could also be the cause. Each bank needs to draw more than 39 amps. You either have one or more bad glow plugs, a disconnected harness under the valve cover, or you have a problem with the glow plug module.
This details will help.
Thanks.

After replacing Alternator, the battery indicator light Comes ON dash?

If you need dis-assembly or replacement instructions for any other auto/car part, or you want to ask question related to your car/truck jeep problem then please leave the comment with your details, so I can provide you the required instructions and solutions.

The reason the battery light is on is that the charging system voltage is below the battery voltage, this means the charging system is not working correctly, since you already replaced the Alternator for I assume the same problem, unless you got a defective rebuilt the charging system problem is not the Alternator but lies elsewhere in the electrical system. Use a volt meter and check the voltage at the battery cables with the engine running at high idle (at least 1000 RPM) the voltage should be at least 13.4 to about 14.2 Volts DC. This is also most likely the cause of the light that is on dash. But if All checked ok,then yes it can be faulty alternator, try with another alternator and confirm.------------

Its not very hard to replace timing belt.First inspect and confirm the belt is worn out.
If you want to change the timing belt you need to remove the plastic rock guard under the motor on the passenger side. remove the spark plugs and using the socket turn the engine from the crankshaft clockwise until you are at TDC on #1 cyclinder. (compression stroke) Next remove the upper and lower plastic timing belt covers. The idler pulley is the one with the spring. Loosen the nut and remove the spring then you can remove the timing belt.Buy original belts, instead of cheap non branded local belts.Branded parts last long and performs well.

This is basically the problem of cracked oil pan gasket. The oil pan needs to be replaced. Its not easy task. You should have proper tools,to do this job.
The details are as follows :----

To do the job at home, the engine must be lifted off the engine mounts to have enough room to access and remove the oil pan, a very difficult job on the ground, fairly easy on a car lift. The job at home is approx 3 hour job.If you are an experienced car person and have the right tools, you will need a good 2-21/2 ton hydraulic floor jack and jack stands as well as a wooden block to raise the engine up so you won't damage the oil pan. Please note, then while refitting new oil pan,do not over-tighten oil pan bolts.

This basic details will help.Thanks.

This problem was very much noticed on old ford car models.
It sounds like the distributor stator/pickup is defective, this sends an erratic signal to the Ignition control module (called the TFI module) coil and that causes the timing to go wacko. The Ignition control module and the stator are mounted on and inside the distributor change them both, the distributor must come out to replace the stator. There was a recall on may of these trucks, contact a Ford dealer. Another problem is that the ignition switch comes apart, this also was recalled on many models. Below is a diagram of the distributor for your reference.

This basic details will help you.Thanks.
