Horn, Turn Signal and HighBeam light problem on Mitsubishi

Vehicle details

Make: Mitsubishi
Model: Lancer ES
Year: 2006

The problem noticed by customer,Horn Honks non-stop and door locks are not working.

Turn Signal and High Beam light stays ON and will not Turn OFF.

These all problem starts after battery reset procedure.
Only negative terminal of battery was disconnecting for 15 minutes then reconnected. After that all these problem started.
The battery negative terminal was disconnected, because Check Engine Light Was ON.So just to Reset that Check Engine Light the Battery negative terminal was disconnected, for 15 minutes, then reconnected as before. These procedure reset the check engine light, but all these other problems started.

The troubleshooting details are as follows:-----

The confirm, one point answers in these types of cases are very difficult. There are multiple things that can cause such problems.

First check and confirm that no fuses are blown out in fuse box.
For Horn related issue try these:---

RESET HORN SETTINGS

Disconnect battery negative (black) terminal then reconnect it.
Use key to unlock drivers door twice, see if horn halts.

If no luck there:
Disconnect battery negative (black) terminal
Insert key into ignition and turn to ON
Reconnect battery

These procedure helps,if horn settings are got disabled.

But if its control module related issues or any other fault, then these procedure will not help.

Normally when we see the horn and lights stuck solid it is from a reverse connection on the battery or a voltage spike.... but just disconnecting and reconnecting the negative cable should not cause such problems.
So its definitely related to problem with module.

I will give more details:-----

The horn gets command by the horn-pad or through the keyless entry via ETACS module system on this vehicle... and the ETACS should pulse it if it were sounding the alarm, not a long honk.
But in your case its a loud honk and not a pulse. The horn is honking non-stop.

Recheck all fuses, did you pull them out and inspect or use a meter/test light to verify the metal tabs on top were all powered? It not, then please do it to confirm that fuse or its slots are not the cause of these problem.

Also without forget check the small yellow fuse holder in the under hood box? On some of such cases, the problem was noticed there.
To confirm issue and test fuse use a test light.Just probe both pins on the top of each fuse so that will confirm there is power on both sides.

But if all fuse and fuse slots checked ok. And if there is nothing found there and no success with the above troubleshooting procedure, then you will really need to get it in to a shop/dealer for deeper evaluation.
As I mentioned before, the horn can only be turned on with the horn-pad (or if the relay sticks of course) or via the ETACS as part of an alarm command.
If the horn is going off while locking the high beams and signals on, then this is clear malfunction in the ETACS as it should be pulsing them not solid. If the power supplies to the ETACS are good and the alarm cancel requests (key in door or reconnect with key on) do not help, ETACS diagnosis will be your next step. And for that professional Scan Tool is required.
A normal scan tool is of no use in such cases.

Because here the inspecting is for the ETACS module,a standard code reader would be of no benefit whatsoever.
Ideally a Mitsubishi MUT would be best as it has the most thorough access to the ETACS as well as SWS break out harnesses can be used as necessary, as the hands on investigation lengthens.
So that's the only option,to get into further troubleshooting.

These details will help.
Thanks.

How to fix Vertical blue line on Sony ps3

FIX: Sony Play Station Vertical Lines On display
Vertical blue line on Sony PlayStation.

Possibilities:---

  • Either the TV resolution is not set right.Try on all resolutions, one by one and see if Vertical lines disappears.
  • The connection cable between TV and PlayStation Console is not right.
  • The HDMI cable which is used is either loose or its not compatible.
  • The HDMI resolution settings are wrong.
  • A hardware issue
  • A faulty PS3.( Try connecting same PS3 on Another TV).
  • Try playing another game, sometimes some particular game will show problem, but another games will work right.

There is a PS3 reset procedure.
On many such cases related to PS3,this reset procedure helps.
If you have tried all possible things, then try PS3 reset procedure.

There are two reset procedure:--
One is Video reset and other one is factory reset.

Please Note: The factory reset procedure will erase all data on the unit, the video reset will just erase the present game.

VIDEO RESET PROCEDURE FOR PS3:

These procedure will wipe only the particular game which is running.
The video reset is done by pressing and holding the power button for 3-5 seconds from a power off state, the unit will beep 1 time indicating the video is reset. So first turn Off the PS3,then while you turn it ON,just hold the power ON button for 3 to 5 seconds.

FACTORY RESET PROCEDURE FOR PS3:

This will wipe all the saved games and data from the machine.
But these method is more effective,if the video reset is not helping.

For these procedure, you  need to push the power button to turn on the unit, but keep the power button pressed down for about 30 seconds.
After 30 secs you  hear a beep (resetting the video settings), then 2 more beeps. You need to release the power button after  the 3rd beep.
These will  take you to the set up screens.
The setup screen comes the first time when you get new PS3 connected to the tv. Its like you just got it out of the box.

Now update all the settings, like you did when you got the PS3.
Then turn OFF the PS3 and Turn ON the PS3 and then see.The problem will be solved.
But if  after doing all this does not fix the problem then it most likely is a hardware issue and may need serviced or replaced.

======================

IF THERE IS ANY OTHER PROCEDURE TO GET RID OF BLUE VERTICAL LINES ISSUE ON PS3, THEN PLEASE SHARE YOUR VIEWS.THESE WILL HELP AND BENEFIT OTHERS WHO ARE FACING THESE SAME PROBLEM.

Thanks.

How to replace Headlight Bulb on 2001 mitsubishi magna

Head Light Bulb replacing.

Its not necessary to replace complete head light assembly, when only head light bulb is faulty.

In headlight assembly there are low beam and high beam bulbs.First confirm which bulb is faulty and as per that you can replace the correct required bulb.

If it is just the headlight and just on one side, with no other (turn signal, marker) light failures, then just replace that particular bulb.

The bulb is accessed from behind the housing. So no need to remove the complete head light assembly out.

You  will be two large connectors on the back of the headlight, one for low beam and one for high beam. First confirm the exact bulb which needs to be replace and then remove that bulb and reinsert new one in that same slot, from where you removed the old faulty bulb.
Twist the bulb connector anti-clockwise about 45 degrees and it will release and you can pull it out for replacement.

The common rear of the lamp should look like this:
The diagram/image will help you to understand the look of the bulb assembly:----
Mitsubishi headlight

Please Note:--- To access the back of the headlight assembly housing, if you have the battery and storage cover behind the lamp, then that has  to be removed. There is a plastic cover to gain more access.... otherwise no other removal is necessary.
But on some car model its direct access without removing any battery plastic cover etc.

On  earlier style car models the connectors plug straight in, instead of at a 90 degree angle like pictured, that is for newer car models. On that car models the bulb is removed slightly in a different way.
On some car models there are delicate plastic lock clips that hold the bulb assembly in the head light housing. There you have to disengage the plastic clips/locks to get access the bulb out.Sometimes these clips gets cracked or breaks while dis-assembly. But that is no worry issue. The bulb will fit with that clips cracked too.But still be slow and careful,if you can remove the assembly without damaging the clips. That might help.

These details will help.
Thanks.

How to replace Alternator on Mitsubishi Lancer

Mitsubishi Alternator removal procedure

Mitsubishi Lancer 2006 Alternator removal on 2.0L engine model.

To replace the  alternator you basic hand tools in a driveway with jacks or ramps.

While replacing alternator or any other internal cars components always start with the engine cooled off.
Once the engine is cool, start your task of replacing alternator. To access the alternator look down the back side of the engine on the belt end. You will see a threaded bolt horizontally mounted just forward of the alternator. In the middle of this threaded bolt will be a square block with another bolt going into it perpendicular.

Out of these two bolts first loosen the shorter bolt going into the block about three or four turns. Please take a note that this bolt has a  12mm bolt head. Once these bolt is loosen it will  loosen the clamping on the adjuster.
Now loose the longer threaded bolt which is also a 12mm.
First the shorter bolt and then the longer bolt. Both have 12mm bolt head.
Once both bolts are out  the tension on the alternator belt relieves. You can usually loosen it a half dozen turns and then be able to pop the head clear from the bracket.

Now once the adjuster bolt is loose.Carefully  grab the alternator and pull toward you/forward and see if it collapses. If it does not, you will need to go below the vehicle and loosen the 14mm pivot bolt/nut as it will prevent the alternator from moving if it is very tight. Many a times the self-doers forgot about this 14mm bolt and just pull the alternator out and it will not come out.

Please first the alternator belt has to be out then the alternator comes out.Once the bolts are out the belts tension is loose. The alternator has to be pushed in and belt gets easy access to come slide out.Once the belt is out the alternator can be easily removed.Once you are able to pull the alternator all the way in, you can slide the belt off the pulley. Note that the AC belt is the outer belt, so you can not remove the alternator belt entirely at this point unless you remove the AC belt first... you can just leave it hanging while you work, that is fine.

Now the safety measures:---
While removing alternator ,you dont have to crack/break any other connectors and components.
The battery cable is connected to alternator. So ...........
Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable.
Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the alternator.
Unbolt the battery cable from the back of the alternator.

Now its time to remove the bolts out, which you have previously loosened
Remove the smaller 12mm bolt in the adjuster block entirely so that the top of the alternator is free.
Remove the 14mm nut and pivot bolt from the bottom of the alternator.

Grab the alternator and work it back and forth to free the pinch on the bottom from the engine.Be careful its a heavy piece unit.So just hold it tight and place it in safe ground place.

There are many service manuals and repair manuals available to remove replace parts. That books are also very helpful. If you have them, with you keep them handy.

As per the service repair manual  book we would remove the engine mount by the belts (support the oil pan then remove the three bolts holding the mount to the frame and the three nuts holding the mount to the engine) to allow more room. Actually its not necessary to remove these much components. But if you do so,you get more easy room to access the alternator and to remove it.

Many newbies gets stuck after all major dis-assembly procedure is done. That is alternator will not slide out, even through all screws and connections are removed. On that purpose its a simple process.
To remove the alternator out of its housing, you have to firmly push the alternator down and out of the way and remove the adjuster bracket from the engine. With lots of turning and rotating you can slide the alternator out the top. It  will not be very easy, but with in few minutes you will make it out. If you have difficulty, remove the engine mount per the factory directions and this will allow you to move the engine about considerably and you will be able to bring it out the top or bottom with enough movement.

See the help diagram shown below.
This diagram will guide you thoroughly for  each of the bolts we discussed on the adjuster (#4) and the mount (#7), as well as their torque specs.

Mitsubishi alternator replacing

While replacing alternator, its always suggested to buy branded parts, instead of low quality third grade aftermarket cheaper parts.
Aftermarket parts are not at all bad parts. But there performance is very low considered to branded and original parts.

These details will help.
Thanks.
