Brake lights not working on Ford?

Brake lights not working indicates problem with brake light switch.

But this problem is not in all the cases. In many of the cases the brake switch is OK, but problem is wires to the switch. The 2 wire connector to it, the copper wire conductor inside the outer plastic insulator breaks, so use a 12 volt test light ($4 at Autozone) to verify that you have power into the switch, if you do check the dead wire out of the switch to make sure the conductor is intact before you replace the switch. You can easily do this by removing the connector from the switch and putting a paper clip in it to see if the brake lights come on, if they do the brake light switch is the problem, if not then go to Ford and buy a repair connector for the brake light switch. Solder the new connector on (if needed) don't use crimp connectors. They many a times get shorted after few minutes.

The details mentioned will help.

Don't use Local engine oil?

Auto engine needs oil.The oil plays key role in lubricating engine and its related components. When ever you replace oil.Go with correct oil, what your engine required. Many local garages or auto parts store will provide you cheaper oil .They do this for high profit margins.OEM oil is costly but there is no profit margin to earn in that oil.So they convince you to but this cheaper oil.Get the oil changed,BUT Use what the manufacturer recommends. Your engine is designed for a specific viscosity, and you need to adhere to the manufacturer's specifications. Nowadays, oil does much more than 'lubricate the engine'. The oil moves the variable valve timing, and a host of other tasks.
Viscosity is important.
Too thin, too much volume. Too heavy, to little volume.
Using correct oil helps your vehicles engine to maintain itself and give better performance.

Low Tire Pressure warning light?

The error itself indicates that you have problem with tires. The Low Tire Pressure warning light. This indicates that you have a low tire, or combination of tires that are not at the factory specified inflation presure..

Its recommended that you get the tire pressures inflated to the factory specs; the specs are on the driver side door opening area or mentioned in the car manual.

Also you can get details from your local car dealer.
But just get the tire presssure checked and set the pressure right as per specs.

Power windows working intermittently?

This problems are due to weak parts. For permanent solution the part needs to be replaced.
Has the window motor been replaced? This is a classic symptom of defective window motor. Next time this happens hit the door panel, if the window starts working again that confirms the problem is the motor. This is not fool proof but in most cases the motor will restart, hit the panel down low a few times. But if problem repeats again then replace the motor for permanent solution. But if you have already replaced the motor then other possibility is shorting power window switch connections. The switch needs to be tested and replaced.
This details will help to take care of the intermittent working power window problems.

Driving vehicle will low fuel?

Don't drive your car/truck with low fuel.On most of the latest truck/ car models there is indicator that shows fuel level is low.Just get the fuel filled. This will damage the engine.
Also if you notice that check engine light is ON.Then driving due to low fuel caused problem to any of the engine computer controlling parts.
It could trigger a random engine misfire code due to the pump drawing air from the low fuel level. Have the system tested to confirm this, the code will be P0300. Autozone and other discount parts stores will do the test for free, just tell them your check engine light is on and you would like a test done to see what the code is.
The above mentioned details will help you to confirm the fault.
Please don't drive will low fuel warning on dash. Its not advisable.

Dodge durango starts only if cranked excessively?

This problems are mostly indicated as fuel related problem. The engine need fuel to start. If the flow of fuel is low or nil the engine will not start.Excessive cranking makes fuel to reach engine and it starts up.
This may be due to the fuel pump pressure check valve being defective. When the valve malfunctions it allows fuel to drain back out of the fuel line, then you must purge the line of air and fill it with pressurized fuel, this takes a few moments and this causes abnormally long crank times before the engine starts. On your truck the pressure check valve is on the top of the fuel tank, if not it is inside the fuel tank and part of the fuel pump module assembly, any parts store like NAPA or Carquest can look this up for you and find out if you can just replace the pressure check valve and not the whole pump module which is quite expensive. If possible always But parts from professional auto parts store, instead of local garages or shade tree mechanics.

Cruise Control not working due to Brake light warning light?

This problem is noticed in Toyota model.
If the Brake warning light is illuminated on your instrument cluster, the cruise control is prevented from being set. This is normal.
The most common reason for the Brake light to be illuminated is low brake fluid in the brake master cylinder. As the brakes wear, the fluid in the master cylinder drops proportionally to make up for the wear on the brakes.
Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. If it is low, top it off with a new can of brake fluid. Don't use brake fluid that has been opened, use new. Brake fluid that has been sitting in a can will draw moisture, and this moisture, when you put it into your master cylinder, may cause your steel brake parts (that touch the fluid) to rust.
If the fluid level is OK.
Then Brake related components needs to be inspected and tested.
This details will help to confirm the problem.

  2. Position an oil collecting container under switch location.
  3. Disconnect electrical connector.
  4. Unscrew oil pressure switch .
To install:
  1. Apply Mopar® Thread Sealant to the switch threads.
  2. Install oil pressure switch to fitting.
  3. Connect electrical connector.
  4. Lower vehicle.
  5. Start engine and check for leaks.
  6. Check engine oil level and adjust as necessary.

Testing

  1. Turn ignition ON (engine off ).
  2. Verify if the oil warning lamp lights.
  3. turn ignition off.
  4. Check the engine oil level. Adjust as necessary.
  5. If engine oil level is within specification disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector.
  6. If the oil warning lamp goes out:
    1. Remove the oil pressure switch.
    2. Connect an oil pressure gauge in its place.
    3. Start the engine.
    4. If the pressure reading is 4.0 PSI or greater at idle :

Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.
Check if gauge reading is 4.0 PSI or greater with the engine fully warm and at idle.
If pressure gauge reading is 4.0 PSI or greater replace the oil pressure switch.
  7. If the oil pressure warning lamp doesn-t go out when disconnecting the oil pressure switch connector:

    Disconnect the instrument cluster.
With an ohmmeter measure the oil pressure switch sense circuit to ground.
If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms, repair the oil pressure switch sense circuit for a short to ground.
If the resistance is above 5.0 ohms, repair or replace the instrument cluster as necessary.
  8. If the oil pressure warning lamp doesn-t light when turning the ignition switch on, disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  9. Connect a jumper wire between the oil pressure switch sense circuit and ground.
  10. If the warning lamp lights, replace the oil pressure switch.
  11. If the warning lamp doesn-t light, keep the jumper wire connected and disconnect the instrument cluster.
    1. With an ohmmeter measure the oil pressure switch sense circuit to ground:

If the resistance is above 5.0 ohms repair the open oil pressure switch sense circuit between the switch and the instrument cluster.
If the resistance is below 5.0 ohms remove the oil pressure warning lamp from the instrument cluster and inspect it.
      Replace the lamp if open.
If the lamp is in good condition, replace or repair the instrument cluster as necessary.
