Maytag Neptune washer takes long to complete cycle?

When the washing machine is working, takes an unusually long time to complete the cycle, that is not usually do to a control unit (CCU) fault, but to the fact that one condition needed to follow on the cycle is not met. The CCU may have to wait a longer time, and will not proceed to complete the cycle.

The most obvious thing to check are the water hoses, checking the drain hose and the inlets. If water is not coming with sufficient pressure, or if one of the hoses is blocked or kinked, the cycle time may take much longer than normal.

Other common problems are the pressure switch (SWITCH, PRESSURE), that detects water level, and the thermostat (on self heating models only).
The pressure switch determines when to stop filling and draining. If the pressure switch is faulty, then drain and filling may take much longer or go on forever.

Check also that water valve and dispenser valve are not clogged. (VALVE, WATER) and (DISPENSER VALVE )

On the water valve there may be a thermistor (not all models), check that the thermistor contact is not disconnected (WATER VALVE W' THERMISTOR) , as the thermistor may also be faulty.
