How to remove Engine Oil Cooler on Toyota?

The details and procedure will work for Toyota 4Runner Vehicles.
The procedure is for
1GR-FE
2UZ-FE
5VZ-FE Engine models.



Removal & Installation



1GR-FE
  1. Drain the coolant.
  2. Remove the oil filter.
  3. Remove the V-bank cover.
  4. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the cooler.
  5. Remove the bolt, washer and cooler.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use new O-rings. Torque the cooler bolt to 50 ft. lbs. (68 Nm). Torque the V-bank cover to 66 inch lbs. (7.5 Nm).

2UZ-FE
  1. Remove the engine under-cover.
  2. Drain the coolant.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4. Remove the oil filter.
  5. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the cooler.
  6. Remove the bolt, washer and cooler. Discard the O-ring.
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use new O-rings. Torque the cooler bolt to 51 ft. lbs. (69 Nm).
5VZ-FE Engine
  1. Drain the coolant.
  2. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the cooler.
  3. Remove the bolt, gaskets, cooler and O-ring.
  4. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use a new O-ring. Torque the cooler bolt to 43 ft. lbs. (59 Nm).
