How to replace blower motor on 2004 ford f-150?

Removal & Installation



  1. If equipped, remove the aftermarket air filter.
  2. If equipped, remove the mounting bracket for the removed cover.
  3. Disconnect the push-pin retainer from the motor mounting plate.

  4. Disconnect the connector.
  5. Remove the blower motor cover.

    1. Remove the three screws.
    2. Pry to release the three tabs.
    3. Remove the cover.
      WARNING
      Carefully remove the blower motor to avoid damage to the wheel.


  6. Remove the three screws. Remove the blower motor.
  7. Remove the push clip. Remove the wheel.

  8. Remove the gasket.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator.

  2. If equipped, remove the dealer installed air filter and brackets.
  3. Remove the passenger side scuff plate.
  4. Remove the passenger side kick panel.

    1. Position aside the weatherstrip.
    2. Remove the passenger side kick panel.

  5. Disconnect and detach the electrical connector.
  6. Position back the carpet.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  8. Remove the screws and remove the blower motor.

  9. Remove the clip. Remove the blower wheel.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim panel.
  2. Position aside the carpet below the blower motor.
  3. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  4. Remove the 3 blower motor screws.
  5. Remove the blower motor.
  6. Remove the blower motor wheel clip.
  7. Remove the blower motor wheel.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the vacuum pump (7.3L diesel engine).

  2. Remove the vacuum pump bolts (7.3L diesel engine).

  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose and remove the vacuum pump and mounting bracket (7.3L diesel engine).
  4. Disconnect the speed control servo connector (5.4L and 6.8L gasoline engines).

  5. Remove the bolts and remove the speed control servo (5.4L and 6.8L gasoline engines).

  6. Disconnect the blower motor connector.
  7. Remove the blower motor ventilation tube.
    NOTE
    Carefully remove the blower motor so as not to damage the wheel.

  8. Remove the screws and remove the blower motor.
    NOTE
    If the wheel is to be reused, clean the corrosion from the shaft end prior to removing the wheel.

  9. Remove the push clip. Remove the wheel from the blower motor.
  10. To install, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

Vehicles with 6.0L Diesel:

  1. Remove the retainers and the insulator.

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the vacuum pump.
  3. Remove the bolts.

  4. Disconnect the vacuum hose and remove the vacuum pump and mounting bracket.

Vehicles with 5.4L and 6.8L:

  1. Disconnect the speed control servo connector.

  2. Remove the bolts and remove the speed control servo.

All vehicles:

  1. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
  2. Remove the blower motor ventilation tube.
  3. Remove the screws and remove the blower motor.
    NOTE
    If the wheel is to be reused, clean the corrosion from the shaft end prior to removing the wheel.

  4. Remove the wheel from the blower motor.
  5. Remove the push clip.
  6. Remove the wheel from the blower motor.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Console Motor



  1. Remove the center console ducts.
  2. Remove the three nuts. Remove the blower motor from the bottom of the console.

  3. Disconnect the harness connectors.
  4. Disconnect the connector. Remove the bolts. Remove the resistor.
  5. Remove the five screws. Remove the lower duct cover.

  6. Remove the three bolts. Remove the upper duct cover.
  7. Remove the two bolts. Disconnect the connector. Remove the blower motor.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Plenum Motor



  1. Remove the RH lower instrument panel insulator.

    1. Position aside the weatherstrip.
    2. Remove the passenger side kick panel.

  5. Disconnect and detach the electrical connector.
  6. Position back the carpet.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  8. Remove the screws and remove the blower motor.

  9. Remove the clip. Remove the blower wheel.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
